I was born on 11 December 1944.
After secondary school I studied experimental physics (with mathematics) at the University of Utrecht.
I got my degree in 1972. Subsequently I did some work in the medical physics department on the movement of the human arm. In that work a computer was used for data aquisition. Slowly my interest changed from physics to computer programming.

In 1974 I changed job and started as a real computer programmer at the computer centre of the University in Groningen, Holland.

In 1994 we had a reorganisation and in September 1994 my job was split in two part time jobs: at the computer centre and on the KVI (Kernfysisch Versneller Instituut) in Groningen.
And from July 1998 my job is full time KVI.

Programs I was working on at the computer centre mostly were dealing with the information providers for the Internet.
On the KVI my job changed. The main part of my job was managing the Linux servers of the institute.

Beside that I maintain this Linux server on Origami.

In October 2006 I retired. I am frre now to spend my time on what I like to do. But my calendar is still too stuffed to do much on my main hobby: Origami.
